Is Anxiety a Villain or Hero in Inside Out 2? Anxiety is set up as the main antagonist for much of Inside Out 2, but she isn’t a bad guy. Even though she banishes the main characters from Headquarters, her goal is to help Riley grow. As the story unfolds, Anxiety becomes more desperate to "help" Riley prepare for an uncertain future, causing Riley to distance herself from her friends and make poor choices.
